Dan Kirby

Dan has over 11 years of entrepreneurial experience in the creative and digital industries. Even the time when he was employed was in two start ups!

His first business – DKPM – became a 20 strong brand design business based in Sheffield & London. Clients included BAFTA, Sony PlayStation and Hasbro. He sold his shares in that business to his founder partner in 2009.

In 2004 Dan set up Sonic ID – the world’s first transatlantic sound design business (based in London and Portland, Oregon) – which is now part of The Illustrious Company. Client work included Dolby, First Direct and BP.

He is now CEO of Techdept – a web technology business which employs 15 full time in Sheffield & London. Clients include Activision, American Express, and British Gas. Techdept launched its first technology product – Tidybrand, a simple to use digital asset management system – in February 2013.

In 2012 Dan established Co Lab Partners with a group of like minded people in Sheffield and the City of London, who are committed to more collaborative ways of doing business. Co Lab Partners helps new entrepreneurs develop their ideas into sustainable businesses.

The first Co Lab Partners investment – www.farmkit.com – launched in August 2012, and is shaking up the agricultural machinery market in the UK, a market worth £4bn. It is steadily growing, and employs a full time General Manager. Farmkit is currently closing a second round of angel investment.

Dan is an active member of BAFTA. He also takes lots of photos, buys lots of music and DJs.
