Julie Kenny

CEO and Chairman, Pyronix Ltd

Julie Kenny, is Chair and Chief Executive of award winning Pyronix Limited, which she founded in 1986.

She established Pyronix, a Rotherham based company, after completing training as a lawyer; Julie has taken the business from strength to strength. Striving to always be the best in her field, Julie has pushed Pyronix to its current position as a leading manufacturer of electronic security equipment, which now exports to 96 countries.

Julie’s reputation for hard graft and single mindedness is exemplified by her response to the company losing $800,000 of orders over 3 months in 2009. After the order losses, she sat down with the kids and told them she had no option but to dedicate the next three months to visiting every customer in every corner of the world. In a seven-day period, she spent 50 hours in the air and 20 hours travelling to airports. But the business grew by four per cent in the UK that year and in 2011, turnover hit just under £15 million.

Recognised for her services to industry, Julie was awarded a CBE in 2002 in the New Years Honours list. In addition to running the business and being a full time single mother of three, Julie has taken on many other roles including appointment by the Secretary of State as an Intervention Commissioner with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, UK Commission of Employment and Skills and more recently, her appointment to the Office of High Sheriff of South Yorkshire for 2012/13.
